Abstract
本稿は、一橋大学の前身である高等商業学校と東京高等商業学校の蔵書目録を利用して、 両校の蔵書構成の変遷を考察したものである。高等商業学校発足当初の蔵書は東京外国語 学校から継承した書籍が過半を占め、社会科学分野の書籍の割合は半分に満たなかった。 その後社会科学分野の書籍が重点的に収集された結果、19 世紀末から20 世紀初頭には、 社会科学分野を中心としながらも人文学分野にも目配りした蔵書構成という、今日の一橋 大学へとつながる特徴が形成された。
This article considers the collection development at the Tokyo Higher Commercial School library. At its genesis, the percentage of books in the fields of social sciences was less than 50%. This was due to the fact that a large part of the library holdings was inherited from Tokyo School of Foreign Language. By the beginning of the 20th century, the percentage had risen to more than 50%.
