Abstract
本稿の目的は、どのような大学教育や活動を通じて学生が汎用と専門の2 種類のコンピテンスを習得し読書習慣を形成するのかを明らかにすることである。分析に用いたのは、日本の1 大学で人文社会科系を学んだ卒業生（1996 年度から2016 年度までの7 時点、有効回答数1,271 人）のオンライン調査結果である。SEM による分析の結果、まず大学生の1)専門コンピテンスと汎用コンピテンスの習得、および2) 専門コンピテンス習得と読書習慣形成は正の関係を持つことが示された。2 種類のコンピテンスや読書習慣は多様な大学教育や活動によって身に付くが、専門コンピテンスと読書習慣は授業やゼミナールなどのいわゆる大学教育を通じて、汎用コンピテンスはこれに加えて友人との交流やフィールドワークなどのより広義の大学教育や活動を通じて習得される。しかし効果を持つ教育や取組は分野によって異なることが示された。友人との交流は多くの大学生がいそしむ活動だが、汎用コンピテンスの習得とは関連せず、読書習慣の形成にはむしろ阻害要因となっていた。読書の持つ社会性を考えると、大学関係者に対して、授業のみならず友人との交流を通じた読書習慣の形成に向けた取り組みの検討が提言される。
