Abstract
日本語学習者にとって、「敬語」が難しい最大の理由はそれが規則的なものというより語用論的なものであるためである。本稿では、スピーチレベルシフトの実態をドラマのスクリプトを用いて記述した。その結果、「ダ体→デスマス体」「デスマス体→ダ体」のいずれにおいても、「動かす」目的よりも「伝達」目的の方が、「垂直関係」よりも「水平関係」の方が、「継続的」な場合よりも「一次的」な場合の方がスピーチレベルシフトが起こりやすいことがわかった。
